19-year-old seriously injured when pickup, box truck collide on M-6
CALEDONIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Two people were hospitalized, one with serious injuries, after a crash on M-6 southeast of Grand Rapids Tuesday.
The crash happened shortly before noon in the westbound lanes of the highway at Broadmoor Avenue SE in Caledonia Township.
Michigan State Police said a pickup truck was entering the highway from Broadmoor when the driver lost control. The pickup collided with a box truck. The driver of the pickup, a 19-year-old from Byron Center, was hospitalized in critical condition.
The driver of the box truck sustained minor injuries.
M-6 was closed at Broadmoor while emergency responders were on the scene but reopened shortly before 3 p.m.
MSP initially said on Twitter that a semi-truck was involved in the crash, but later clarified to News 8 that was not accurate.
